United States of America (Press Release) June 18, 2008 --
June 12, 2008 – San Francisco, CA -- The San Francisco Design Center welcomes DeKayu, offering beautiful furniture for the environmentally conscious.
DeKayu, comes from the word “kayu” which means wood in Indonesian. The company embodies the philosophy that our planet is full of beauty, and in the natural world, nothing ever goes to waste. They have taken these principles and applied them to create beautiful customized furnishings while also helping our planet at the same time.
“We are very excited about our upcoming exclusive furniture designs which are bolder statement pieces. We scoured the countryside for huge old pieces of teak wood and like a sculpturer with his stone, fashioned the design by letting the wood reveal itself to us. The result is beautiful sculptural furniture pieces that are unique, bold and follow the organic lines of the wood. Our latest designs will feature the option of eco-friendly water solvent stains for our designers and their clients.” states Thesia Bowo, owner of Dekayu.
DeKayu’s design concept is to take unique woods and craft them into functional pieces, with a touch of Indonesian design heritage, while preserving the rich character of the materials. Their furniture is made of rich reclaimed teak wood that embodies natural characteristics and has an antique texture due to its origin. The beautiful pieces are crafted in central Java, Indonesia and their workshop employs skillful artisans who love what they do.
“Being green takes on a whole new dimension when using recycled wood for fine home furnishings. It elevates old world and new style to a higher level. Their recycled wood furniture coupled with their Indonesian antiques makes Dekayu an ideal destination for designers looking for sustainable and customized furnishings,” states Tim Treadway, CEO of the San Francisco Design Center.
DeKayu is located at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria, 2 Henry Adams Street, Suite 325.
